Why Are Member Albums Showing Up In Groups?
Why Are Member Albums Showing Up In Groups? UPDATE 1/28: Fixed. We've rolled back this feature until two things are fixed: 1. Moderators need to be able to delete the albums 2. The album placement needs to be moved Many people have noticed there are member albums popping up in the Group albums section. This is not a bug, but a setting within albums. You can set this when you dive into the options of your albums. Here are the options for displaying your albums (see image): - Open the the public or just friends - Open only to your friends in groups you are a member of - Open to all members of the groups you select - Keep album hidden from everyone What I'm hearing is that moderators of a group should be able to take down albums they don't want displayed. That makes sense to me. I'll put up a poll to get more specific about how we want to change this, or scrap it. |

Thank you .. a poll is NOT required I don't think. If you want someone to see your network - Friend them. In addition - there are problems with posting new topics - It started on Sunday with the mess with the blogs .. now you see a post or comments .. now you don't. Barring Houdini on the IT staff there - there is a glitch .. is it tied to a "new upgrade" or just some random bit of code gone awry? And WHY .. after a member has been banned from a group- can you not eliminate their remnants - I have a photo album in the group I moderate where the member got banned a while ago .. actually the same day the albums showed up. Previous bannings removed the member and their leftovers ... why not with this?

I joined and then left Younger Women for Older Men so I could see what albums are doing to main group pages. The albums are listed vertically below the group description and above the chat room and the threads. Each added album pushes the chat room link and threads farther and farther down the page. This completely and absolutely SUCKS! People join a group to A) Chat; participate in the threads; or C) Both. They are NOT there to see a list of albums they can see almost EVERYWHERE ELSE (now) on the site. KILL this damn 'feature'. At the very least, give group moderators the options to turn it off and edit/delete. This it the absolute WORST idea any numb skull in marketing/ programming has EVER come up with - second only to the 'you will get laid guaranrtee'. Listen to your customers. WE DON'T WANT THIS.

Ryan, can you answer these questions I have about the album feature? I posted these in the Site Support question and answers blog, but nobody is monitoring that blog anymore. 1. I see the link that allows me to upload my album myself, to be displayed on the front page of a group. But I also see that there are already some albums displayed in Younger Women for Older Men ., belonging to people who haven't been on the site in weeks or months and maybe even years. Clearly, those people didn't put them there themselves. How did those albums get there? 2. If I create a public album, will it automatically get displayed in every group I belong to? 3. Is there a limit to how many albums will be displayed on a group's front page? For example, if all 51,395 members of Younger Women for Older Men . decide to upload an album to the group, will I have to scroll through all of them before I get to the chat room and discussion board in the group? 4. Is there a way to get my content filter to block any naked or offensive images posted in those albums? 5. Is there a way for group moderators and associate moderators to remove an album from the group page? 6. Is there a way for group moderators to turn the album feature on or off in their group? 7. If a group moderator bans a member from the group, will that person's album still be displayed? 8. Can a group be reported for abuse and sent into denied status because of offensive content in any of the displayed albums? 9. How long will a member's album remain on display in a group? After a week of having this feature, I think I now some of the answers. But it would be helpful if you could confirm my worst suspicions.

I much rather see an option for members to be able to choose what profile photo of theirs they would like to appear in an individual group they belong too instead of having this album feature. As you already know several of members are offended by seeing nude or sexually explicit photos of other members.; in addition, many group moderators will not allow a member to joining their group if they have a nude photo or sexual explicit photo of them as a main profile photo. Groups as this in a way interfere with how some members express themselves in seeking out what they are looking for from this site as a member or how they choose to conceal their privacy without using a facial photo or other of them. Just because a male member has a pic of their cock as a main photo does not make the man a dick head or depicts him as not being an intellectual and etc....; however, that is how many other members view a man with a cock shot as being a dick head and etc....

Ryan we only have 4 albums showing in (girls watching guys on cam) but if every member decided to add there albums it would take hours to scroll down to chat and post sections. This needs to be removed or atleast the group moderator should have the option to turn albums off. I dont think moderators should have the ability to delete single albums as this would just cause havoc, if they turn one off and the member wants it showing. It could cause trouble. Moderator should have the ability to turn albums off just like they have the ability to turn polls off.. Also as i said pics in albums are not monitored by abuse. Any member could add anything and it would make the group look bad. How would you like a picture of a 2inch cock covered in spots and pre cum on your groups homepage.. Woops sorry for the above but whats to stop it.

I'm the moderator of Younger Women for Older Men and I tried e-mailing the individuals whose albums are on the group's page to get them to remove them. So far the only response I got indicates that individual wasn't even aware his album was posted in the group. He doesn't know what I'm talking about. You don't need a poll, from what I've seen in the Site Support Blog and on the group For Serious Minded Moderator, moderators are overwhelmingly opposed to this feature. The bloggers, from what I read in the Site Support Bllog, are just as overwhelmingly opposed. I cannot vouch for the bloggers but I know the majority of moderators are gold or silver members. We are tired of doing Customer Service's job when something goes wrong and have to explain to our members what is happening. Albums are GONE in Younger Women for Older Men! What a relief!!! A giant THANK YOU to whomever got smart and took them down.

Thanks for taking down the albums on the groups front pages. I'm still going to ask again that the videos of other members be removed from our intro video page. It really sucks having other members videos on our page. People think we are recommending these videos. Some of them are down right nasty. If they have to be there why can't we have some control over which one get placed there, like some of our favorite videos that we have on our list. We pay for our profile. Let us choose what's on our pages.

Sin, while you are only one sweetie that disagree there are far more that will agree. My reasoning is not based upon my personal self thoughts as I have moderated many active groups on this site in the past. Primarily one which I created back on Feb. 6, 2005 that became the second most active Group on this site. The rules of that group in the beginning was no member to having sexually explicit photos. The reason of that rule was based upon the consensus of opinions and feedback from members throughout the several forums including the group that I created and moderated. Just a few of the opinions by members both male and female that oppose of sexually explicit photos, which was always based about the male explicit photos. And that list of reasons that members have goes on and on with the judging of a member without even knowing them that does use a sexually explicit photo on their profile as a main. That is why I condensed the reasoning as "that is how many other members view a man with a cock shot as being a dick head and etc...." In addition, I am a member of a group that you are an associate moderator of Sin, that prohibits members using sexually explicit photos as main profile (which you and another associate moderator emailed me in concerns of it, and if I did not change it I would be banned from that group regardless of all contributions and knowledge I have shared in that group over the years); however, I belong to other groups as well that use of sexually explicit photos has a way of attracting certain individual members as well to one another. I have actually myself met women from this site with that explicit photo that I used that displayed in FSMM last night. Not only because my dick being sexually attractive to them either, as they wanted to see and know more about the owner of that dick too. It is a Catch22 when it comes to the Groups, Members, Photos, and the intent a member joined this site for. Furthermore, no matter how you slice it....members with sexually explicit photos of themselves as main profile photos are immediately judged upon based primarily on the photo they use and not their actual character. I would hate to think what would happen if Ryan made his Blog or Group to not allowing members that have explicit photos to comment in with their contributions and opinions they make in regards to the site.

Giving moderators the ability to delete certain albums and moving the albums to a different part of the page solves some of the problems, but not all. Here are some other issues that would still exist: 1. Moderators should be able to turn the feature on and off in their groups. Not all mods want the workload of monitoring the albums. 2. The site's content filter doesn't apply to the albums, making it awkward for people to view the groups in a public situation or around their kids. 3. Banned members, associate members and non-members have their albums displayed in groups, at least until the moderator gets around to deleting them. The feature should only apply to members in good standing. 4. Albums are being displayed without the express permission of their owners. 5. Albums from inactive accounts should automatically disappear from display, without intervention from group mods. ********************* If I were designing the feature, I would give moderators controls over it that are similar to the controls over blog posts. Give moderators these options: 1. Members can post albums 2. I want to pre-review... Then also include DELETE and BAN links beside each album and member. ************************* I actually DO like the basic idea of album sharing in groups. It could be a fun feature for sharing things like meet and greet photos or photos that are meaningful to the whole group, especially because they're viewable by standard members. It just needs some major revision.

Pineapple, I agree with everything you say, except for one small point. "The posting rules negate this to some extent, by forcing the photo off through inactivity. " The albums that were showing in Younger Women for Older Men were mostly from members who were inactive in the group, and in some cases inactive on the site. At least one was inactive for a period of 3 months or more! And one was even banned from the group, yet his album still remained on display, even after the group's front page had been updated by the site. Another guy hadn't made a post to the group in several years. The group has a 2 post a month minimum, but this had no effect on whose albums were displayed.

As of today, Thursday 28 December - Topics that I added to the Group have still not been "approved" or posted.... Have y'all just decided to remove participation entirely? Ours is NOT one of the groups that denies members by sexually explicit photos, HOWEVER, from a quick run through of our most active members - NONE are accepting the Photo Album "upgrade" and all are wondering why, if the moderators have the ability to remove members and posts - are they not allowed the management of their groups page? It really was a close the gate after the monkeys ran amok here - you all push and encourage participation, but then remove all the tools of control and moderation from those of us who choose to. Why are posts NOT being pushed through onto the pages ? Why are groups that I am in (Inner Sanctum) showing as Pending? When can we expect a resolution to the not posting problem? Is there a roll-out date for correction of the Album in Groups issue? There is a "new" feature Thanks.
