Just to see you smile, I'd do anything that you wanted me to.
When all is said and done, I'd never count the cost, it's worth all that's lost.
Just to see you smile.

Perchance to Dream
Posted:Jan 12, 2009 10:49 am

I woke up this morning and wondered why
Looked out the window and gave a sigh
The are fighting, I hear them scream
It’s too much to hope this is just a bad dream

The sink is full and the carpets need sweeping
I roll over and think I’d much rather be sleeping
But the phone is ringing ‒ someone wants cash
Good luck with that ‘cause I’m flat on my ass

The van needs repairing and the tire is flat
Now the is chasing the neighbor’s cat
The clock on my night stand ticks and tocks
One needs lunch money ‒ the other needs socks

I close my eyes and deeply sigh
Trying to picture blue oceans and sky
Trying to block the phone and screams
And spend one last moment with my dreams

Then up I get to face my day
And tuck my dreams safely away
Hoping tonight a little moonbeam
Will lead me to sleep ‒ perchance to dream

Like A Girl

Her came home from school today
Tears falling from his eyes
He sobbed as if his heart would break
Because he was teased by the guys

Teased? she asked whatever for?
He hung his head in shame
They said I throw just like a girl
And cant play in tomorrows game

She turned away, her heart in pain
To see her little boy cry
Knowing this will not be the last
She turn back to him with a sigh

Of course you throw just like a girl
Since you had to learn from me
Ive done my best to teach you right
But I guess your friends wont see

They dont understand how hard its been
To make it through each day
And that you have only your old mom
To help you on your way

I hate you, Mom, the boy cried out
You taught me the wrong way
And now I cant play in the big game
I wish youd go away

His words cut her heart just like a knife
This wasnt how it should be
But the boy could never understand
She held back tears so he didnt see

This wasnt how she thought itd be
On that long-ago day
When she so happily announced
A little boy was on his way

She and his father laughed and cried
And made their life-long plan
Of things theyd do and what theyd see
And how hed grow from boy to man

But the best laid plans of mice and men
Dont always see the light
And men dont always stay around
To do what they know is right

They sometimes leave their families
To make on their own
And never bother to think of what
The boy will miss once he is grown

Hell miss the fishing trips theyd take
And his dad up in the stands
As he makes that basket or touchdown
Or walks the path to being a man

The boy will never know how hard it was
To be a single mom
Who didnt even know which side
A boys belt gets fastened on

Hell never know how much she gave
Or how much sleep she lost
Trying to be both Mom and Dad
No matter what the cost

She doesnt count the time shes spent
Teaching him to throw
Only to learn shed taught him wrong
And brought him to this low

She pulled him tightly into her arms
And hid her tears from sight
Maybe we can ask someone
To teach you to throw right

The boy said nothing for a time
Then sighed against her breast
Im sorry, Mom, for what I said
I know you've tried your best

But you dont know how hard its been
Being the only one
Without a dad to teach me stuff
And no one to call me

When the guys hang out with their dads
I am left alone
I know that you are always here
But I wish I had a dad of my own

I wish you did, too, believe me,
But its just not meant to be
Its just the two of us for now
Its only you and me

Maybe someday someone will come
And make our family three
Wholl be there for the both of us
But until then its just you and me
I Had a Friend

I had a friend who filled my life
A friend who needed me
His pain was mine through endless nights
I held his hand and dried his tears
And drove his fears away

I did these things because he is my friend
A friend who needed me
A friend I love with all my heart
To the ends of the Earth and back again
I’d go without a moment’s pause

I knew someday his pain would heal
This friend who needed me
And he would be on his way
I wished for him to find peace and love
I wished with all my heart

I wished away the pain he felt
This friend who needed me
Upon each star I saw
I wished and wished with all my might
For peace and love for him

Now he’s found the things I wished
This friend who needed me
My heart is glad I helped him heal
And yet I feel so sad inside,
Sad and lost and hurt, to boot

For since my wish for him came true
My friend no longer needs me

Kia ora, my Love. Be well. Be happy.

The Tapestry

Each of us has a role to play
Like threads in a tapestry
Ours have intertwined for now
Those threads that are you and me.

The threads are woven by powers unseen
Each person touches us for a reason
Our threads are part of a bigger pattern
For a lifetime or only a season

Because there’s a pattern when our threads touch
It may seem without reason or rhyme
But each twist of the thread is part of a purpose
So we meet in our proper time

This means that our meeting was meant to be
Though we may have only a season
We each have a purpose we’ve yet to see
So our paths have crossed now for a reason

You may need me or I need you
To make one another whole
Or we may touch someone else
And help him redeem his soul

We cannot see the tapestry’s pattern
But for now side-by-side we go
The time will come when our threads part
When that will come we don’t know

So let us enjoy the time we’re given
‘Til the hour that we must part
When the pattern takes our threads away
But leaves its mark within our hearts

On the Outside Looking In

I’m on the outside looking in
At what I love but cannot win
The heart of one I hold so dear
Knowing I’ll never hold him near

Looking in from the cold
Hoping he will never know
This is love that cannot be
Love for one who is not free

His heart is bound to another
He thinks himself as my brother
To me he is my everything
My holy grail, my brass ring

My love is doomed from the start
For another lives deep in his heart
Never would I step between
Never would I cause a scene

As the king proved long ago
True love is willing to let go
So from the outside I look in
At what I love but cannot win

I Have Faith In You

Today you said your hope is gone
Your soul feels weak, your spirit blue

I said I still have faith in you

You said you cannot keep up the fight
Your arms are sore, you ache all through

I said I still have faith in you

You said you cannot wake each day
And face the world as if it’s new

I said I still have faith in you

You said there’s too much pain to bear
And you cannot see what I know is true

I said I still have faith in you

I know you better than you think
I know the things that you can do

That’s why I still have faith in you

So when you’ve lost the faith YOU held
And no longer believe as you should do

Remember… I STILL have faith in you

I watched a group laugh and play
From the side where I often stay

Watching, watching, everyone
Not joining in the raucous fun

Standing unnoticed, they pass me by
Blissfully oblivious to my sigh

Once my hand did I stretch out
Tentatively, with fear and doubt

Totally ignored by those I sought
My try at friendship was for naught

Head bowed down, I walk alone
The loneliest number is truly one

Feeling lost, invisible to all
From my eyes the tears do fall

Alone and lonely, I watch them play
And once again I walk away

I Wear the Mask of One True Friend

Last Updated:Feb 3, 2008 9:16 pm

I promised you I will be your friend
Thee and me right to the end
For friend I am and ever shall be
So upon my face a mask you see

I wear the mask of one true friend
And such I am right to the end
The mask is painted with smiles and cheer
So you will not see the pain in here

It covers the tears I shed at night
Though I hold them back with all my might
Tears I shed at what cannot be
For friend I am and ever shall be

I hear you speak of your heart’s desire
And how you burn with love’s deep fire
To you she was sent from Heaven above
And always you call her your True Love

But where is she when your heart’s in pain
And to me you turn, yet once again
I don the mask of one true friend
And such I am right to the end

I am the one who holds you tight
And talks you through the long, cold night
When the fears and doubts creep in to stay
‘Tis me who helps hold them at bay

I am the one who smiles and hears
Though the words you speak cause me tears
Tears I shed at what cannot be
But friend I am and ever shall be

Then back to her I send you again
You need your Love like plants need rain
Soon enough you’ll call and ask
And for your sake I’ll don my mask

I wear the mask of one true friend
For such I am right to the end
Tears I shed at what cannot be
For friend I am and ever shall be

I Wonder Would I Do It Again?

The hands of time move ever forward
Warning me of the end of my stay
What would I choose, could I do it again
If I turned back to that long ago day?

Would I go back to that warm spring day
To the moment before we met
To that place in the path where I had to turn
To that spot where my fate was set?

To make again that choice to turn
Towards you or towards another
What would I choose, could I do it again
Would I walk the same path or the other?

In my mind I replay the scenes through the years
Side-by-side the good and the bad
Mingled together the laughter, the tears
All our times both happy and sad

I remember the nights of love that we shared
I remember the sunshine and rain
But as the life seeps out of my form
I wonder would I do it again?

When The Pain Comes

When The Pain Comes

In the dead of night I awaken
Gasping for air as the pain overtakes me

Dreams of you have intruded again
Leaving me broken and worn

Silently I curse your existence
Curse the night and the dreams and the pain

Then curse myself for the fool that I am
To let my love for you overwhelm me

For that is the cause of my pain
Losing you as the love of my life

Night after night comes the pain
As the dreams replay it for me

I know someday it will stop
I know I will sleep through the night

As peacefully as a baby at slumber
Dreamless and calm ‘til the dawn

But for now the pain comes in the darkness
Leaving me broken and worn

I Love You Enough

I love you enough to speak the truth
Though the pain it causes you hurts me, too

I love you enough to hold you close
Then turn you loose when you need to be

I love you enough to stay behind
While you walk the path you have chosen

I love you enough to help you along
Though it leads you to the arms of another

I love you enough to wish you well
And smile sincerely at your joy

I love you enough to let you go
Though it breaks my heart to say goodbye

Because We Are Friends and I Love You

Because we are friends and I love you, I will never let you walk alone.

I will walk beside you when the path is wide and smooth.

When the path is narrow and rough, I will walk behind you.

I will push you gently when you hesitate.

I will watch your back so you may feel safe. I will watch for danger that you cannot see.

I will catch you when you fall, and should I fail to catch you, I will fall with you and take some of your pain.

I will be a bridge for you when the path has crumbled.

I will be a safe shelter for you from all life's storms. I will hold you in my arms until the worst has passed, then set you on your way again.

I will find you if you lose your way and guide you back to the path.

I will whisper encouragement in your ear, and shout your triumphs to the heavens. I will cry where you cannot see me so you do not lose hope or faith in me, even when I have none in myself.

I will never let you walk alone.
You are my friend and you are precious to me.
