What Do We Do With N. Korea?

Well it looks like North Korea has joined the nuclear club.

Last night, it appears that the lunatic President of North Korea, Kim Jong Il, managed to detonate a nuclear device in a underground testing facility. The bomb was small by todays standards, only 5-15 kilo-tons.

Oooops, did I say small? The bomb that destroyed Hiroshima was 15 Kilo-tons.

My first re-action (besides fear) was to Bomb N. Korea back to the stone-age to get this weapon out of the hands of one of the world's most tyrannical dictators, and to set an example for Iran.

After the initial shock wore off, I started wondering what we could really do, and what we should do.

I think we should engineer the overthrow of the government of North Korea. A Complete Naval Blockade of the country should do the trick. We will need to help China with the refugees that will come streaming over her southern border (and to make sure that China doesn't break the blockade), and when the people get angry enough, Kim Jong Il will be out.

I know that this will cause suffering for the North Korean people, but it will be worse if we bomb, or If President Kim leads us into World War III.

Anybody got any other ideas?

as for exact, it was 1/2 a k ton (500 ton) - enough to suspect possible faking it with conventional expolosives

HOWEVER, that changes nothing - we are reaping the rewards of years of allowing ourselves to be tricked throughout the 90s - like he's gonna keep his promises ... DUH!!!!
The 93 "uranium" agreement of peanut farmer & billybib did us in (the sham of the century) - they spent the years since developing "plutonium" (many x more powerfull than uranium) .. again, DUH!!!!.

NOW, we got a real mess there. As u said, making them implode will cause millions to flee to China - thus China may not be a great ally in this.

Bombing, which may ultimately be the only real option will mean many dead in n & s korea. - a real mess - and every day we put it off, they get stronger and able to kill more - every day - every day - ever........ and good ole "Armageddejod" (my name for the lil twit in iran - if u know shia 12ver armageddon sect beliefs, u'll get the connection) will be encouraged to say fuck off West, u cant do nuthin to us!!!!

My opinion..to many people are worried about nothing...so what if they have the nuke..not like they are going to use it...oh I'm sure they will if the U.S gets a bright idea like to bomb them or invade..then by all means...as a nation they have the right to defend themslefs...

A solution would be an internal revolt of the People. The only Hope is to have the 6 Major Countries who have been in negotiations with N. Korea for now a year to continue. The results have been ineffective so far but perhaps with coordinated political pressure will eventually have an effect. Issues like this are never simple in this world. No one has the answers, hopefully there are a few knowledgeable , wise and courageous men who will prevent the issue from expanding.

hugs,
flo

Back in the 90's, Bill Clinton the commie-lover, along with his secretary of state, Madeline Not-so-bright, and Jimmy Carter, America's most pathetic president ever, gave Kim Jong Il the green light to construct the nuclear facility that produced the bomb just tested by North Korea.

Of course, all of the congressional Democrats, even Hilary Clinton herself, are trying to say that this is somehow George Bush's fault because of the war in Iraq. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton is now trying to tell us that he had a "secret plan" during his second term in office to attack the same North Korean nuclear facility that he helped them build to start with, all because he doesn't want yet another blemish on his already piss-poor "legacy".

See, now North Korea has been a legitimate concern of mine for years. Way more so than anything in the Middle East. But then again, it could have to do with my location. As far as the possible detonation this past weekend goes, it's not really anything that we haven't known for a long time.

This dude, btw, is a megolamaniac beyond reasoning.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

yup venger - that is fact

- but I must correct myself - i chkd it out again, was 1994 when Paddlin Madlin danced with Kimbo and cut the Devil's Deal ... allowing Kimbo to make ALL he wanted..

.. putting us by 2000 in an untenable position .. ireparable damage already done ... a position which we are still in ..

. .and will remain in until something (not good something) happens..

.... and it absolutely will.

Thanks to the D Team (Paddlin Maddlin, Jimbo (u know, the peanut guy) , Kimbo & BillyBob ... we have a problem --- soooooo many absolutely WILL die as a result of their folly --- likely the greatest presidential error in history!!!.

Im dissapointed Kof - "We are up to our neck in the wrong war" .... likely true, i might agree on parts of it, .... BUT it is ABSOLUTELY not appropriate for this good discussion. What makes "them" say that in EVERY discussion, and change an intelligent productive discussion into meaninglessness ... damnnnnn

"Dont INHALE" ...... .lmao ... i finally got that one!!!

uhhhh ... james ...... i have never seen such a disgusting putdown ...... shame ..

u r right on 1, 2, 3 ........ but we are where we are due NOT to current ... but to 90s ... as stated above ....... there really is no arguemwnt that 2000 saw it beyond help ... he had developed plutonium to bomb degree under billybob & paddlin maddlin etc (historical fact) ....damage DONE ..... thanks to above group .... like that is history .... not political drivel ... or putdown ...

i also think current adminare bad descision makers ..... see both sides ... this is not a "sides" thing ... it is history, and previous admin was also was exceedingly incompetant ... ... but can see that on THIS issue, it was the previous group that set it up in worse mistake in history.

dont rant on people like that ... as for u, "you are a dickhead thuggish POS. SO much shite has come down the pike that has happened as a result of our govenments current policies and you still want to call it somebody else's issue. FUCK YOU, your MOM, and your stupid, incompetent, totalitarian masters. I hope you enjoy being a brown shirt", lmao - hey, that was fun!! .. i feel a lot better now.

The only reason Bush went into Iraq was becasue his old man could not get the job done in the 90's...One thing about the U.S is they know how to put the fear into its own population.

James20910,

Hey mister lefty - As to be expected from a lefty guy like you, you can't counter my post with any actual facts - just platitudes and name-calling - which is so typical of leftists from all over this world.

You are just bitter now that Bill Clinton's "enlightened" foreign policies are now being shown for how harmful they really were toward national security. (Things like Clinton turning down Sudan's four different offers to have Osama bin Laden handed to him on a silver platter are just one of many examples.) You can call me whatever names you want, brown-shirt, POS, whatever...but this doesn't change the way that Bill Clinton continually keeps being revealed for the fraud that he was as president and still is today.

Why don't you go suck Bill Clinton's limp little cock since you love the guy so much?

FYI - I am a registered libertarian in the event you want to try and still say anything about my "totalitarian masters", but at least the current administration doesn't try to kiss communist and terrorist ass like Bill Clinton and his people all did throughout the 1990's.

O-kay, let's get a couple of things strait,

Yes, Former Secretary of State Allbright entered into a terrible treaty with the Republic of North Korea (an agreement without proper inspection and repercussions is un-enforceable).

The War in Iraq and Afganistan in no way affected this situation. This would have gone on anyway ... and if push comes to shove, we have an entire division plus on the DMZ that is more than enough for the NK army.

We have been in talks with NK about this ... they are called the 6 Party talks (with China, the US, Japan, South Korea and Russia ... I still think Austrailia should have been included) because these are the nations most endangered by NK behavior and these are the countries that can exert the most influence on NK.

I actually don't believe that NK detonated a nuke (a big pile of conventional explosives also makes a big bang), but just the fact that they said they would ... along with certain threats made last night, ensures that they will be treated as though they had (why ... because sexyfitwoman hit it right on the head ... it's kind of scary)

There is no way that North Korea has a warhead small enough to put on a missle ... but that doesn't stop a warhead from being placed on a container ship and detonated in Honolulu, Seattle, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, or any port for that matter.

North Korea has sold nuclear technology to both Iran and Syria ... why would anyone think that they wouldn't sell a complete bomb to one of these countries or a terrorist group.

Kim Jong Il has spent billions on weapons of mass destruction while his people starve ... do you think he cares any more about the other people in the world than his own people?

You can't rationalize with someone (Kim Jong Il) that is irrational.

As for the name-calling and downright nastiness that is running through this post ... I kinda like it, it shows passion ... without passion we become robots.

good comment pchamp ... and a great post .. thanks.

lol, BBR, if facts are agin ya, change the subject, ... now where did i see that before?

ya, passion is good in that way, but namecallin takes from it i think. I kinda prefer "facts" ... old fashioned i guess

Drub out my old, but now appropriate
Billybob, Paddlin Maddlin, Jimbo, Kimbo, Mumbo Jumbo Korea Con Job Fiasco post - (aka "Blame your folly on Bush")
and get it front & center again

What the fuck are you talking about? The "job" G.W. Bush's old man had back in 1991 was to defend and liberate Kuwait from Saddam's invasion. G.W. Bush's old man totally succeeded in doing this with a wide international coalition, too. This was his stated goal from the start.

Liberals like you were 100% opposed to Operation Desert Storm back in 1991 anyway, even having your paltry little "no blood for oil" protest marches back then. Liberals like you were also the ones all screaming so much more about the oil spills intentionally caused by Saddam back then too, but it's not like you wanted him removed from power by military force for it. Just another meaningless UN resolution against him suited you just fine, and history shows us how he defied the UN resolutions time and time again as he enriched himself and corrupt UN diplomats with the UN's Iraqi-oil-for-food deal. He's out of power and on trial now for genocide in case you missed it, but the thanks for this goes to G.W. Bush, not the corrupt UN and their worthless resolutions.

So don't try to act all hawkish and revisionist now, mister lefty. You oppose military action every time it's done, except when a lefty president like Bill Clinton is doing it, that is. You say the U.S knows how to put the fear into its own population, but yet you have nothing to say about the deceitful and brutal communist and islamo-fascist dictators around this world who are all trying to arm themselves with nuclear weapons to threaten and kill both you and me alike.

hmmm...spent 7 years in the military..was in the Gulf war in 91..so how do you think I opposed it?..and if you look at my blog I have a post on it about N Korea having the Nuke...not once did I ever protest a military action...I have fought for both your country and mine..

I read all the comments, but I wish to direct my comment only to the original post.

I believe that directly engineering the overthrow of the N. Korean government would be a serious mistake. History reveals many examples of interventions gone awry.

That government will fall of its own accord, and we should be preparing with the South Koreans for that event. However, it is the Chinese who will ensure that the next government is stable.

It is very important to understand that the Chinese will be our allies at the negotiating table due to this ONE convergence of our respective interests. The Chinese want stability above all else as they need it for their current economic expansion to continue unabated.

I imagine that they will most likely support a new regime governed a under Gorbachev style socialism. Sort of like what they have in China now, probably. Whatever happens, they will side with the West as long as the end result is not upheaval and chaos.

If we were to meddle directly to bring down the NK government and ignite tensions there further, then the Chinese would do as they did under Mao. They would go to war.

You may be right Keith ... though overthrowing the government of NK would be a whole lot more satisfying. Are you sure you don't want to respond to the other comments with name-calling and hair-pulling

B_B_R,

Well, for a Gulf war vet, your first post sure seemed to indicate that you had a problem with understanding the purpose of that mission.

My bad...guess I should have made myself more clear. I thouht since we were there in 91..that we should have gone all the way to Bagdad then..we had everyone behind us then..not the crap that is going on today...but that is just my opinion
