When he was 40, the renown Bohemian novelist and short story writer FRANZ KAFKA (83–24), who never married and had no , was strolling through Steglitz Park in Berlin, when he chanced upon a young crying her eyes because she had lost her favorite doll. She and Kafka looked for the doll without success. Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would look again.

The next day, when they still had not found the doll, Kafka gave the a letter "written" by the doll said, “Please do not cry. I have gone on a trip see the world. I'm going write you about adventures."

Thus began a story continued the end of Kafka’s life.

When they would meet, Kafka read aloud his carefully composed letters of adventures and conversations about the beloved doll, which the found enchanting. Finally, Kafka read her a letter of the story brought the doll back Berlin, and he then gave her a doll he had purchased. "This does not look all doll," she said. Kafka handed her another letter explained, " trips, they have changed ." The hugged the new doll and took it home with her. A year later, Kafka died.

Many years later, the now grown-up found a letter tucked into an unnoticed crevice in the doll. The tiny letter, signed by Kafka, said, “Everything you love is very likely to be lost, but in the end, love will return in a different way."

What a very sweet story, so very warm and Kafka was a very thoughtful and loving man. I am so glad the young girl held on to that doll and still has it today. I hope your having a great hump day and thanks for sharing this story with all of us. Just goes to show there are some great people out there..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

By coincidence, shortly before reading your post, my *media feed* highlighted a survey that identified "The Four Things That Make Practically Everyone Feel Loved". Here they are:
• When someone shows compassion toward them in difficult times
• When a child snuggles up to them
• When their pets are happy to see them
• When someone tells them “I love you”
Kafka was three-for-four with this young girl! The power of this sweet and gracious *random act of kindness* is as potent today as it was century ago and was as far from "Kafkaesque" as one can imagine.

Cant say I know much about Kafka, but the idea of the return of all I have loved in my life is over-whelming! I doubt y emotions could handle that, and frankly, some I loved I no longer love, will that or those return also?? NIGHTMARE time !!!

I didn't know tis story about Kafka. It's wonderful!

Great painting, by the way! I do vaguely recall seeing that before. It makes me think of T.S. Eliot, for some reason.

A lot of thought went into that doll and and his lasting message that was in the little crevice hoping that it would be found.
So glad that she found it

Like many who are known as pessimistic or cynical, Kafka was a softie at heart. His dark world view was like a shell, for protection.
