COVID-19 In the Workplace

It's official...

After seven months of dealing with the pandemic, my workplace has finally had it's first positive confirmation.

Because of my position within the company, I do know who the person is and I had daily conversations with her. Fortunately with safe distance practices and the other safety measures that we have in place, the health department did not deem anyone within our building as within the guidelines requiring quarantine, but I did choose to freeze my gym membership just in case.

While I'm still required to go to work every day.... etc, if something were to change and I did become ill, I don't want to be responsible for spreading it to others.

It's going to be interesting, going forward, to see what happens next.

I have to say I'm pretty proud of us all, though. Everyone has managed to keep their cool and continue on in the face of this.

As my Grandma would always say.....

Let's cross that bridge when it gets to us!

Well, the bridge is here, now, and we're preparing to cross. Wish us all luck!

i have a high-risk mother and after seeing her go through chemo, i try to be mindful of the spaces and spaces i go. and i regular test (at least 1x a month) to make sure that i am not asymptomatic. covid is still out there. i don't want to expose her unwittingly.

from all i've read some people still experience symptoms long after so i hope your co-worker comes through this a-ok.
I'd glad you're taking safe precautions for your mom. I don't know her, but I'd hate to have anything happen to her. Cancer is bad enough on it's own, don't need to add COVID.

Definitely hoping no one else including yourself feels sick or tests positive. I know in my neck of the woods, the whole county has been upgraded to top tier status. Fun!
On a personal note , distant family up in Sacramento all contracted covid about two months or so ago. Sadly one family member passed away. Given the current climate it made travel impossible.
We've been upgraded to level 4 again... Back to limiting customers, starting to see pandemic shopping again, some of us are restricting what we do to contain exposure.

I don't know very many people who have had it, but the ones I do know are all recovered now. One person had no symptoms at all, she was just exposed and had to take the test, which came back positive.

Wash you hands! Avoid people. lol OK...that one might be hard to do when working or having your kids with you. But wash your hands and don't touch your face! Hopefully you and all of your co-workers will get through this.
I was a hand washer already to start... So, that hasn't been an issue. I definitely use a lot more sanitizer now, though. I wear a mask every day, all day at work, that is constantly sliding up, sliding down, fogging up my glasses.... I think I touch my face more now with the mask than ever before....

Hopefully the virus didn't make it past the blockade. But I heard sunshine enemas might work....

I'm hoping I don't catch it either. She did the test on the 5th and hadn't worked since the 4th... So if I had been exposed at the very minimum it would have been the 3rd. That's already nearly 2 weeks...

    It's all good... 👍❗😎
I know a couple of people now who have had it and recovered. None of them had it bad enough that they required any hospitalization or anything... The hardest part was getting to the point that they were virus free. You have to continue to test weekly until you test virus free. This takes weeks.

As long as we keep doing our safe practices, our chances are good that we'll get through this ok. I have to say, it was kind of a surprise to get the news as we were getting a little lax, but it was a good reminder why we sanitize so much, why we've made everything as touch free as possible, and why we look out for the safety of our fellow peeps.

I hope your co-worker gets through this! As for the bridge most of us are on one side. Maine has had an explosion all of a sudden, thanks to the supreme spreader rallies and the church congregation who think you need to be in church to talk with the lord. The last nasty was a group of anti-masker who are planning to "attack" three stores this Sunday and show the folks that masks dont work. I am very high risk so I am "being have"
I'm glad you're staying home and behaving! Safety is a must when you are high risk! Michigan is blowing up right now too... We just have to keep on keeping on and we'll get through this.

In My neck of the woods ; in the K-12 Schools ; all 17 have at least 1 case of it & District Level Office has 2 !!! My Significant Other/Wife informed me last evening that her Store was informed that 2 in Bakery Dept. had tested Positive, Health Dept. & Store Immediately shut down the Entire Dept, sent those that were working home for 10 days with pay !!! Remainder of store was deemed to be Safe & Business as usual !!!
In the past month my county has gone from 143 cases to 404, according to the health department. Every school in our district has students and faculty that have been diagnosed. I'm actually surprised they are still doing face to face learning.

That's not good news McLade......but considering the sector, it's an amazing achievement to have gone so long without a confirmed infection. I hope the person comes out of it okay.

By the sounds of things you, your colleagues, your employer, are all doing everything reasonable within your power.

    Good luck!
We're doing our best. I'm just glad we haven't had any other cases come forward. We are expecting her to be back to work next week so everything is looking good right now.

COVID is blowing up in Michigan, we're actually starting to restrict things back up again. Totally sucks.... I'm just so ready for this to be over.

As I think I have said before, being in a shielding situation due to my age and Prostate Cancer I feel fairly safe. However I share the house with my son he has to go to work, and I don't want to crimp what social life he has, just hoping for the best.

So far, she's doing ok. We actually anticipate her being back to work on the 18th. I had talked to her the day she went home early, then ended up getting tested. She said she was feeling run down and had a headache, had actually decided to do the test as a precaution. I certainly didn't think we'd be receiving a call stating a positive result.
