I watch curling off and on and catch it in the Olympics too. It's a fun sport to watch. "Sweet, steamy, sensuous kisses light the bright fires of passionate lust within us." scott6250

Curling is very big in Scotland...apparently I've never played but I do watch it when it's shown in the Olympics or Commonwealth games on TV

I discovered curling in February of 2006 while I was living in Germany with my now ex husband. The Winter Olympics were taking place in Torino, Italy at that time and I decided that I wanted to go check it out! The ex encouraged me to go while he held down the fort with the kiddos for a few days. I didn't want to travel alone, so I managed to talk one of my girlfriends into going on a five day long Olympic road trip with me. We ended up staying in a hostel about 200 km away from the villiage because everything else was full. We traveled into Torino every day to try and score tickets to any event that we could possibly get into. Guess which event almost always had cheap, available seating? You guessed it... Curling. My girlfriend and I ended up watching the Olympic Curling competition for two days straight. The third day we were there, we decided to purchase tickets for the Men's Figure Skating Free Program from an incredibly handsome Italian scalper. But that's a story for another time! lol

I met someone from here who lies about an hour form me. When we were seeing one another we planned a weekend getaway. I researched curling and off we went to Fredericton NB at the invitation of one of their curling clubs to watch and evening's exhibition. I was totally flumoxed as to how to score it. PS Funny: we stayed at the Lord Beaverbrook- share that tale in a Symposium post later (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

I haven't curled BUT the Mrs and I watch as much as we can during Olympics, Scotties, and Tim Horton bonspiels! I was a shuttle drive for two teams here years ago when there was a National Tournament here

Once I figured out that curling was essentially shuffleboard on ice, I totally got into it! Plus the atmosphere in the crowd was a lot more laid back. My friend and I had a blast! Having the opportunity to see the Olympics in February and then just a few months later watch the US play against the Czech Republic from my front row, center pitch seat during the world cup in June made 2006 by far my best year as a sports fan! Those were some good times!

Hi Joy. thanks for taking me further with this one... I used to think that "curling" was a contest where people competed with hair styles and curling irons... it seemed a logical choice to me... and, after all, there is so much maple syrup up north... that you could have hair fashion contests with all the goo, and curl it at the same time... it seems to me, that like Canadian football, they could have that curling competition all to themselves... and, then, they could play it indoors or outdoors, 'cause all you need is a curling iron and some Canadian maple syrup... plus, I was just thinkin'... maybe they could use the syrup to make licking stamps easier to do... you know how you hated to send christmas cards way back when, 'cause you had to lick all of the stamps... I don't think I was even born that long ago... but, just sayin'... and, that's all I've got to say about this one... made me think of this... The Skyliners - "You're My Christmas Present" Ah-ah-ah The tree is all trimmed now The fireplace is aglow And outside quiet streets Are all covered with snow So darling let me tell you On this day of days Baby, you're my Christmas present My Christmas past, my Christmas always In the night, church bells ring Their message, a cheer And somewhere carolers sing Soon Santa will be here And this I swear as into Your warm eyes I gaze Baby you're my Christmas present My Christmas past, my Christmas always So on this silent night Let me hold you tight And make you know just how good love can be There's no gift of hope And no treasure untold That's as precious as you are to me The stars twinkle on high Our world is so fine And I wish you Merry Christmas And as you pour the wine For you, this toast my darling As my glass I raise Baby you're my Christmas present My Christmas past, my Christmas always You're my Christmas always To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!
