Snow day.......not the film.
Snow day.......not the film. Today the could not attend school because of the snow. Frankly I think schools should be kept open at all costs in the snow season. The closure for less than two inches of snow was silly. So the and I had a pancake from the shop near the school and then I drove them to my parents'. We spent the school day there, where my mum who is a retired school teacher, taught them instead. I'm aware that I'm lucky though. Many parents can not afford the time off to supervise when school is cancelled. Many employers will sack staff that have to stay home on snow days. Furthermore, I am glad that my mum can teach because otherwise I'd have had a harder day, dealing with bored . Bring back the days when teachers were given accomodation close to the schools. If there was bad weather, they were able to get to work and school was rarely cancelled. Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life. |

We barely had two millimetres of snow in Redditch on Monday and a lot of the schools were shut. We had a little more today - maybe as much as an inch and a half - and all of the schools were closed. I struggle to understand why this is. Are they scared some little kid will slip on the ice and they'll get sued over it?

smithy.....I think you might be right. Personally I think this culture of sueing over the slightest thing has hurt the western world. We've legislated lots of things out of our culture, just in case. In so doing we've eliminated the small ways nature used to thin the human herd. eg, stopping kids sledging to avoid the risk of the stupid ones running into trees or fences. Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.
