Thoughts about polls

Thoughts about polls

There has been alot of discussion about the pros/cons of polls. From my observation, it seems that people do like the ability to occasionally create a poll. However, bloggers don't want the polls to be given the same weight as text posts in the list of "active" blogs. They also don't want blogs which are mostly polls to get extra visitors just because they are polls.

In the next week, I'll change the counting system to count a comment in a poll less than a comment in a post. Note: votes are NOT used to measure activity.
In a couple weeks, the 'popular polls' section will move to the magazine section of the site.

I like this idea very much of moving the polls from the Blog Section to the Magazine Section and it is a very logical decision in my opinion; however, one question here for you. In the Groups we now have the polling feature too, will this also be added to the Magazine Section as well? I hope not, since in groups some moderators will use this as a voting feature to make decisions based upon its members, and the members that post polls do it to make other members laugh and have fun with it. Just letting you know the activity of members of groups using the polling.

love it
hate it
take it
leave it
move it
this all means nothing if our posts can't be quickly and consistently updated

Thank you so much for listening. I am excited for the polls to be in the advice section of AsianMatchMate.com. I think they will flourish there and serve the purpose that they were intended to serve.

Everybody here has their own style...some work hard at it to exchange thoughts, feelings and ideas, some just flood the place with stupid things to keep their name front and center.

The polls are the easiest to abuse that way. None-the-less, whatever is done with them is cool.

Thanks for your interest to make this place better.

    Quoting  :

Trav, honey, I agree he's kinda cute and all (reminds me of the guy on ER that played Dr. Greene) and I know what his handle is...but it's just WRONG when you call him Luv.

Now, thanks for moving the polls, annoying things that they are. It does sound like the groups might have found a good use for them.

On an aside note, I see people complaining about the slowness of the site. What I've noticed the past several days it that it gets hung up for several hours on the foreign language posts. I wait as long as I can stand it and then I write to customer service and ask them to check for the "foreign language bug". It never fails, 30 to 45 minutes after I send the email the posts start being updated again. It's a reccurring problem, I don't mind writing when I see it, they are probably getting tired of me, and I don't think it's something that they should have to be reminded of everyday. Hehe, you're the boss, maybe if you remind them once I won't have to do it anymore.

Again, thanks for everything Luv, all the extra effort you have been putting forth lately is appreciated.

(see Trav, sounds better when *I* call him that)

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.
