Update on SESN-53: Our Getting Logged Out Bug
Update on SESN-53: Our Getting Logged Out Bug Good news for everyone that likes spending time here. We have a handle on one of our biggest issues - getting logged out. Anyone reading this probably knows what I'm talking about. You're in chat and you get booted off the site. You comment on a blog and suddenly you need to log back on. Sometimes this would happen many times a day. Many of you probably even know the bug number on this one, SESN-53. Here's a log of the daily complaints on SESN-53 over the past year. As you can see, for the last year we've been focusing on fixing this issue. It's been getting better (minus a few spikes). This week we actually had our first few days of no one reporting this issue in years. Few things we've done: Cookies (the part we have less control over) - In August 2010 we changed the cookie settings so that they only lasted as long as your browser window was open. This way the cookie only lasted while you were looking at the page. These cookies identified who you were/which language you need from page to page. - Before August 2010, we had an expiration date on the cookies. Having an expiration date on a cookie is a flag for spyware software that protects your computer from bad stuff. Many companies like SpyBot Search and Destroy would kill our cookies because of these expirations, thereby killing your session with us. Links (the part we have more control over) - We had an issue with some of our links. The way they would direct you would knock you off the site. We did a year long deep dive into our links and fixed them. Since last week, you should have noticed a dramatic decrease in getting logged out. We'll keep an eye on this. What do you guys think? Have you noticed a difference? Let us know in the comments below. |

I concur...on both counts...my profile pic has been playing hide and go seek for the past week now...

for me, it has been much worse for the last week or so. pics keep disappearing on profiles, chinese wording is showing up in the group chat room, and I am still being logged out about every hour now, when I am still online.

Not sure if I should post this here... but....I made a new posting in my group at 2:25 this afternoon. I checked at 6:25 to see if there were any responses, it had not even shown up in the group postings yet? There was another person that made a posting at 4:56, that was there in the group postings? Why did one show up before the that had been made more than 2 hours earlier?

I haven't been logged out since making that comment, but I notice that a few of still get frozen out when using flash chat. The chat room has regular comments from people when they restart the room. AND THE WINNER IS ~~~~ [post 2692868]

There is always a lag in time when users leave IM or join IM.If I see someone is online I put there hand in the "handle" window and search to see if they are in IM and available to message. When people leave IM they are still listed and may or may not show being online totally a mystery how the system tracks who is on and where-it's about worthless to me as I can't depend on it to show me if friends/hotlisted users are on her.

I am still not being shown as being on line after 2 hours....how can I fix this? On 3-19-11, I was on AsianMatchMate.com for 18 hours straight....it only showed me as being online for the first 2 hours. People did not come into the chat room cuz it did not show me as being on line

OK .... So explain why our Norton 360, which is kept updated, is "still" flagging AsianMatchMate.com and ALT cookies as tracking cookies? Which it promptly deletes which in-turn logs us off eventually. Not that that isn't enough of a pain in the butt, within the last week or so, every time we change a page we get a security notice about "Viewing a page over a secure network." We haven't changed our internet settings and we have them set this way for a reason. It's not something different on our end. We use to only see this notice upon the initial log on and exiting the follow-up page, but now as we said before, it's every page change. Is it really "fixed" or are people just that tired of complaining about it???? M & R ... nakedtanners
