Family
Family Recently I moved and was without a job or the internet. I decided to spend a couple of days with my short Italian mom (hehehe). We cooked and talked, like when I was younger. As I walked through the house, it just didn't feel right. No running around, just alot of quietness. I took my time looking at all the pictures hanging on the wall. Generations of family some here, some gone. All the births, graduations, marriages, and funerals. All families have there ups and downs. My family has had are share too ( especially being a large Italian one ). My grandfather and grandmother I miss the most. They were funny one tall and one short. My grandfather was 6'8"tall, broad shoulders. He retired from Peabody Coal Mines and then started farming. He taught me alot. Thank you Papa because I never told you. My grandmother was 5' tall, thin and frail. She worked sewing clothes during World War II, then raised two daughters. She taught me how to cook. Thank you Mama ( a.k.a. grannie ) because I never told you. My mom raised 4 ( yes I'm the youngest ), she worked two jobs and did it by herself. I thank her everyday in my life. My father left us when I was a baby. It took me a long time to be able to talk to him, but we do, but not often. My step-father is German, he is a good man, and is good to my mother. My step-mother was the nicest woman in the world (rest in peace ). About a year ago my brother, who is only 2 years older than me, he had a heart attack. When I was notified, the first thing I thought was oh my god, the second thing was I can't afford to go see him and I just started a new job and I couldn't take time off. As he layed there on his death bed, I worried about small petty things. He couldn't breath on his own, talk, walk, eat or anything we would normally do. Within 10 short months he fought for his life and turn it around. He is now able to do everything he could before to a certain amount. He is unable to work again. He is my Hero! His girlfriend is a saint for sticking with him. I will try to never worry about the small things I have a ton of nieces and nephews. My nephew Brian is in the Marines, I salute you and stay safe. So I guess what I'm saying is try to forgive and keep family close, because you never know when they will be gone. Huggs and Kisses Alpha |
